Tristan Wirfs and Jack Cochrane
Mount Vernon graduates go on to live out their dreams in the NFL
Jack Cochrane and Tristan Wirfs competed against each other on October 2 at the highest level in their sport. Cochrane for the Kansas City Chiefs and Wirfs for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both players are from Mount Vernon, Iowa where the graduated in 2017.
While at Mount Vernon, Wirfs was a 3 sport athlete competing in football, wrestling, and track. Cochrane was a 4 sport athlete competing in football, wrestling, track and baseball.
Wirfs went on to star as a right offensive tackle for the University of Iowa where he was a starter his freshman year. At Iowa Wirfs played three seasons and was drafted #13 in the first round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So far in his career as a Buccaneer he has been on a super bowl championship team and in 2021 was name to the all-pro team.
Cochrane went on to South Dakota where he was a standout linebacker and served as a captain, All-American and academic All-American while wearing the Yote uniform.
Both players represent the Mustang Football program with great pride. Both have given back to the program in various ways and are amazing people. We are so proud of these two and look forward to watching the compete on the gridiron and live out their dreams!
